The Butchers Arms, Woolhope

The Butchers Arms in Woolhope is approx 4.5 miles from Much Marcle.  It is a handsome, 16th-century timber-framed building in an attractive rural location in Herefordshire. There are two comfortable bars for eating and drinking, and a separate, quieter dining room, where seats are bookable. In the winter there are large open fires. A stream runs through the large, pretty garden at the back of the pub.

Owner Stephen Bull used to be a chef/restaurateur in London, then ran the Lough Pool Inn in Herefordshire for five years – winning  Pub of the Year in the Good Pub Guide.

• Fresh, local produce
• Regional real ales
• Interesting wine list and many wines by the glass
